Capacity Building on COVID-19

Capacity building on COVID-19 Infection, Prevention and Control (IPC), at Chantier Naval, Limbe, in collaboration with Humanitarian Service Agency.

The Infection, Prevention and Control (IPC) approach is a scientific approach and practical solution designed to prevent harm caused by infections to patients and health workers. It is grounded in infectious diseases, epidemiology, social science and health system strengthening.

This workshop program took place in at Chantier Naval, Limbe, South West Region, Cameroon. It was aimed at training workers on the guidelines to take in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to their colleagues. The COVID-19 pandemic had already affected the company due to the fact that workers there are exposed to contacting the virus because they interact with people from different parts of the world due to the nature of their job.

We were honored with the presence of the Regional Deegate of Health, South West Region, who also gave us statistics on COVID-19 cases in the South West Region: 625 positive cases amongst which are 85 health personnel, 402 recovering cases and 36 deaths.

During the workshop, we trained the workers of Chantier Naval on the measures taken to prevent COVID-19. These measures include; hand-washing and the use of sanitizers, the use of nose masks for airborne prevention such as droplets, quarantine of infected colleagues if necessary, using gloves and how to properly put them on, disinfection of equipment and the environment as a whole.

Nevertheless, to complete the training, All4Women handed some COVID-19 preventive kits to enhance the measures to be taken practically by the workers at their job site. These kits included liquid soaps to enhance proper hand washing and nose masks to prevent droplets and other airborne sources.
